I've Been On A Spree
A couple of weeks ago, I was surfing the endless/limitless offerings on Netflix, and I came across "The Pixar Story." Being a grown-ass Pixar/Disney fan, I settled in and watched. The documentary is about how Pixar launched from Disney and then partnered up with them to create some of the most memorable (and award-winning) animated movies in history. The film discusses how the creativity pushed the technology and the technology inspired the creativity. All in all, it's a really interesting 90ish minutes. And it got me thinking...I have a lot of these movies on DVD, and many of them are available on On Demand...I should watch some of them again to see if I can track the trail of this amazing technology. Between Pixar, Disney, and Dreamworks (added in because of shared technology and, well, the Shrek and How to Train Your Dragon franchises) I counted up 67 movies.
I've watched 31 of them.
I know John Lasseter has been accused of inappropriate behavior, Steve Jobs is a bit of a dick, and a number of the Disney execs are tools, but the movies are among my favorites. And I've had such fun. One day, while Joe was out, I popped in Aladdin and sang all the songs at the top of my lungs.
I still have a few to go, but this is the best project I've embarked on in years!
