I Love The Olympics!

I always have.  Something about a bunch of crazily talented athletes getting together - politics be damned - to compete, support, and respect each other for two+ weeks.  It's just amazing.

I get so invested in their successes and their failures.  (I think you have to be of a certain age to remember the "thrill of victory and the agony of defeat" - I am of that age.)  I forget about all the madness going on in the world and instead, focus on what's going on with Nathan Chen's quad toe loop and why do all the women snowboarders stick out their tongue whenever the camera turns their way.

I love learning a bit more about the world and its geography...where the fuck is Timor-Leste?  I love making fun of announcers who simply give up trying to pronounce a few of the names I've seen on the screen.  I love the spectators in their respective country's garb, bodacious head wear, and flying flags.  I love the anticipation, the big tricks, the kiss and cry, and the giant fist pumps of victory.

So, for the next couple of weeks, I'll be planted in front of the tv watching the world compete.  Go Team USA!   U S A!   U S A!   U S A!   U S A!
